Just a quick ("quick"? Are you sure you know what that word means? -Editor Ben) administrative update on the site. For about the past year-and-a-half I've been running an EOL version of Drupal here because moving to the next major version is a royal pain. So painful, in fact, that I've decided to stop using Drupal entirely and moved to Backdrop.
If you've been following my blog very closely you might notice it's been up and down occasionally over the past couple of weeks. You may also notice that I mentioned Drupal "fun" in my previous post. This was maybe a bit misleading as it wasn't really Drupal's fault, but Drupal did make it much easier to deal with.
Updated 2018-04-02 with another possible solution
I've been having lots of Drupal "fun" in the past week or two (more on that later), and I finally managed to fix an issue that had been bugging me for a while on a site I had previously migrated from Drupal 6 to 7. Specifically the update.php page was not working. This despite the fact that I was logged in as user 1.
The first security update for Drupal since I started this blog was released a while back, and I negligently dragged my feet in actually applying it here because I was unsure how to do so in OpenShift. It turns out to be quite simple, but it did take me a while to figure out all the steps so I figured I would write them down here to help anyone else doing the same thing.
